The declaration of an affirmed survivor in the Ozamiz City police assaults that left Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. furthermore, 15 others dead coordinated a portion of the discoveries in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory autopsy report. But contrary to his claim, the Parojinogs were not shot at close range.
Cesar (not his real name) claimed in a video declaration recorded by the Parojinogs that he saw police tossing explosives and shooting Mayor Parojinog and his better half.
He said they were altogether gathered together toward the edge of the Parojinog living arrangement.

"Pagdating ng mga pulis, pinadapa kami. Pinababa kami papunta kina mayor, pagdating nina mayor doon, inipon kami. Maya-maya may naghagis ng granada, tinamaan ako," he said.
Cesar also claimed that the mayor was about to be shot but Octavio stepped in, resulting in them being shot.

In the autopsy report of the PNP Crime Laboratory Region 10, Mayor Parojinog, his wife Susan, his sister Mona, and sibling Octavio Parojinog all sustained blast injuries.

How ever, the autopsy revealed that Octavio and Mona did not have gunshot wounds. On the other hand, Mayor Parojinog and wife Susan died of gunshot wounds.

"Yung dalawang kapatid niya, iyung board member, Octavio Parojinog, Jr., atsaka Mona Parojinog, wala pong gunshot wound, blast injuries lang po," said Senior Superintendent Leocy Mag-Abo, chief of the PNP Crime Laboratory Region 10.

The autopsy report showed that Susan sustained a gunshot wound in her left eye, with the bullet exiting the back of her head.

Mag-Abo said Mayor Parojinog died with two gunshot wounds on chest and face.
"Dalawa lang ang gunshot wound niya chest near the base of the neck and face," she said.
Cesar claimed that Susan was shot first.

The Parojinog's relative Nimfa (not her real name) shared Cesar's testimony.

The Parojinogs' bodyguard Vicente Torregoza also died due to blast injuries.

Police Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) group of Region 10 surveyed the crime scene and found the grenade pin inserted in the bodyguard's finger.
The PNP Crime Lab surmised this could be why the bodyguard's feet were mutilated.
Ozamiz City Police Director Jovie Espenido earlier said that the grenade came from the Parojinogs' group.

He said they could not say for sure if the Parojinogs were shot at close range since it was dark when the incident happened.

Hindi tayo makabigay kung close range yung nangyari,” he said.

The PNP Crime Lab Region 10 said it did not see "sooting" or smudging in the bodies of Mayor Parojinog and his wife Susan, indicating that they were not shot at close range.
Cesar said he survived the ordeal after he put the mayor's blood on him and played dead for 3 hours before rescuers came.
Espenido urged Cesar to tell the truth.

May usok na, brownout pa,” he said.
The cadavers of the bodyguards, Mayor Parojinog, and his relatives tested positive in a paraffin test, police said.

In short, nakaputok sila ng baril dahil positive sila," Mag-Abo said.
The cadavers of Mona Parojinog and Susan Parojinog were not tested for gunpowder residue.
